Our Story

Founded in 2004, the Ackerman Cancer Foundation was created to support cancer patients and their families throughout Northeast Florida during some of life’s most challenging moments.

After founding Ackerman Cancer Center in 1997 to provide patients with an accessible alternative to larger institutions, Dr. Scot Ackerman envisioned a future where cancer care extended beyond the treatment room. As the Cancer Center grew and flourished throughout Northeast Florida, the Foundation was established to provide non-medical support to patients and families navigating the challenges of cancer.
Inspired by Ackerman Cancer Center’s commitment to patient-centered care, the Foundation was established to provide non-medical support beyond treatment. While medical care is essential, a cancer diagnosis often brings emotional, practical, and financial challenges that affect not only patients, but also their loved ones.

For more than two decades, the Foundation has worked to ease these burdens through patient assistance programs, wellness initiatives, educational resources, and community support. Every service and program is rooted in compassion and a commitment to improving the quality of life for those affected by cancer.
Ackerman Cancer Foundation is truly unique for its commitment to direct patient impact. All Foundation administrative costs are provided by Ackerman Cancer Center employees, allowing 100% of donations to directly benefit patients and their families. Every gift helps provide hope, support, and resources to those who need it most.

As our community continues to grow, so does our dedication to serving those affected by cancer with compassion, dignity, and hope. Every patient has a story, and we are honored to walk alongside them through every chapter of their journey.

Together, we are helping patients focus less on cancer and more on healing.
