Gigi Ackerman Schwartz joined Ackerman Cancer Center in November 2020 and leads strategic planning initiatives across all departments, directs all aspects of revenue cycle management, and works to develop and maintain relationships with community partners. Gigi holds an MBA from Tulane University. A Jacksonville native, she is involved in several local charitable and civic organizations. She serves as chair of the Art in Public Places Committee for the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, is a member of the National Young Leadership Cabinet, and is a trustee of the Jewish Community Alliance and Jacksonville Jewish Center. In her free time, Gigi enjoys playing mahjong, exploring new hobbies with friends, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Scot Ackerman, MD, FACR is a board-certified radiation oncologist and Medical Director of Ackerman Cancer Center. After completing his radiation oncology training at Columbia University in New York City, he relocated to Jacksonville, FL, where he has been serving patients for more than 35 years.
A recognized leader in oncology, Dr. Ackerman has been an integral force in advancing cancer care across Florida. Under his leadership, Ackerman Cancer Center became the world’s first physician-owned practice to offer proton therapy, expanding access to one of the most advanced forms of radiation treatment available. Prior to founding Ackerman Cancer Center (formerly First Coast Oncology) in 1997, he served as Chief of Radiation Oncology at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL.
Dr. Ackerman’s commitment to improving cancer care extends beyond clinical practice. He serves as Medical Director of Ackerman Urology and founded the Ackerman Cancer Foundation, supporting initiatives that improve access to care, education, and community outreach. In recognition of his expertise and service, Governor Ron DeSantis appointed him to the Florida Board of Medicine. He also serves alongside Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis as a member of the Florida Cancer Connect Collaborative, helping shape statewide efforts to improve cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ackerman has been recognized for his dedication to both clinical excellence and community service. His honors include the 2023 We Care Jacksonville Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2016 We Care Jacksonville Award of Philanthropy, recognizing his longstanding commitment to ensuring high-quality healthcare is accessible to the residents of Northeast Florida.
